CBC League Round 9: Ponta Grossa lose to Corinthians- April 27, 2021

Ponta Grossa - Corinthians 70-76 The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Ponta Grossa (5-2) at the home court on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by Corinthians (6-1) 76-70. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Corinthians made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was point guard Icaro Parisotto (185-92, college: SDCC) who scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Center Ralfi Ansaloni (211-87) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Corinthians players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Wilson Carneiro (175-94) who recorded 16 points and 6 rebounds and Samuel Ferreira (187-99) added 15 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Corinthians have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Ponta Grossa at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. Corinthians are looking forward to face Londrina (#5) at home in the next round. Ponta Grossa will play against Brusque and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Third ranked Joinville faced 4th placed Londrina. Host Joinville (4-3) defeated guests from Londrina (2-5) 78-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Londrina. It was a good game for point guard Patrick Vieira (186-93) who led his team to a victory with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Diego Silva (206-90) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Joinville's coach Guilherme Roma allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Pedro Silva (183-98, college: S.Mountain) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds and guard Jackson Da Silva (192-96) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Londrina. Four Joinville and five Londrina players scored in double figures. Joinville maintains third place with 4-3 record having just two points less than leader Blumenau. Londrina at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Joinville will play against Maringa (#6) in the next round. Londrina will play against the league's leader Corinthians in Santa Cruz do Sul and hopes to get back on the winning track. It was a good game for guard Arthur Rosa (188-98) who led his team to a victory with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Gabriel Vargas (194-98) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Point guard Pedro Rodrigues (175-0) answered with 17 points and Erike Lima (202-99) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Maringa. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Brusque moved-up to fourth place. Maringa lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. Brusque will play against league's second-placed Ponta Grossa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maringa will play against Joinville (#3) to get more than just one victory in their record.
