CBC League Round 10: Londrina defeat Corinthians

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in CBC League. Coincidentally all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Corinthians (6-2) in Santa Cruz do Sul on Tuesday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Londrina (3-5) 86-83. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Corinthians. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Jackson Da Silva (192-96) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward Tarek Santana (208-1) contributed with 12 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Londrina's coach Joao Victor used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. point guard Icaro Parisotto (185-92, college: SDCC) replied with 21 points and 5 assists for Corinthians. Londrina moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Brusque. Corinthians at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Ponta Grossa. Londrina is looking forward to face league's second-placed Ponta Grossa in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Corinthians will play against Maringa and is hoping to win this game.
An interesting game for Ponta Grossa (6-2) which played road game in Brusque against 4th ranked Brusque (3-5). Second ranked Ponta Grossa managed to get a 8-point victory 79-71. Point guard Wilson Carneiro (175-94) scored 25 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Nathanael Nascimento chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side naturalized American point guard Kevin Nascimento (185-92, college: Fisher) responded with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ponta Grossa keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Corinthians. Brusque at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Londrina. Ponta Grossa will play against Londrina (#4) at home in the next round. Brusque will play against Joinville and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Diego Silva notched 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 11 points and 7 rebounds by Lucas Costa did not help to save the game for Maringa. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Joinville maintains third position with 5-3 record behind leader Blumenau. Maringa lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with seven games lost. Joinville will meet at home Brusque (#5) in the next round. Maringa will play against the league's leader Corinthians in Santa Cruz do Sul and hope to win that game.



Corinthians - Londrina 83-86

Joinville looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Power forward Diego Silva (206-90) notched 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Patrick Vieira (186-93) supported him with 3 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Even 11 points and 7 rebounds by forward Lucas Costa (203-99) did not help to save the game for Maringa. Point guard Pedro Rodrigues (175-0) added 12 points for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Joinville maintains third position with 5-3 record behind leader Blumenau. Maringa lost sixth consecutive game.
