CBC League Round 11: Joinville defeat Brusque in the closest game of the week

The most exciting game of round 11 in the CBC League took place in Joinville. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Brusque (3-6) to third ranked Joinville (6-3) 85-84 in the game for the third place. Joinville made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Brusque helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for point guard Patrick Vieira (186-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds and 13 assists. Emanuel Matias (198-99) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. Center Raul De Paula (215-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Joinville have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 6-3 record behind leader Blumenau. Brusque at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Londrina. Joinville are looking forward to face league's second-placed Ponta Grossa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Brusque will play against the league's leader Corinthians and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.

Nathanael Nascimento accounted for 6 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Caio Oliveira (211-98) came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds for Londrina in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ponta Grossa keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Corinthians. Londrina at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Brusque. Ponta Grossa will play against Joinville (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Londrina will play against Maringa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Corinthians - Maringa 79-58

CBC League top team - Corinthians (7-2) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Maringa (1-8) in Santa Cruz do Sul 79-58. Corinthians forced 19 Maringa turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Rafael Paulichi (201-98) who scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Leonardo Assmann (185-96) chipped in 14 points. Five Corinthians players scored in double figures. Erike Lima (202-99) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Brunno Biazin (194-87) added 16 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests.
