CBC League Round 12: Ponta Grossa beat Joinville in the most crucial game of the week

What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Joinville. Second ranked Ponta Grossa faced 3rd ranked Joinville. Guests from (8-2) defeated host Joinville (6-4) 78-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Joinville. Ponta Grossa forced 19 Joinville turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Joinville helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was power forward Leonardo Bispo (206-96) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Nathanael Nascimento (188-94) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Patrick Vieira (186-93) who recorded 32 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Joinville's coach Guilherme Roma tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Ponta Grossa have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Joinville at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Botafogo.
Leader Corinthians delivered the eighth victory. This time they crushed 5th ranked Brusque (3-7) 100-69. It was a good game for Leonardo Jacon (199-96, college: Southeastern) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Enzo Cafferata contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Jeff Carvalho replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for Brusque. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Corinthians maintains first position with 8-2 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Brusque lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Blackstar.

The best for the losing side was Erike Lima with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Londrina maintains fourth position with 4-6 record, which they share with Anapolis. Maringa lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Vila Nova/AEGB.



Maringa - Londrina 38-70

The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Londrina (4-6) played at the court of 6th ranked Maringa (1-9). Londrina smashed Maringa 70-38 on Friday. They outrebounded Maringa 43-25 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Tarek Santana (208-1) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 9 rebounds and Celio Coelho who added 9 points and 7 assists during the contest. Londrina's coach Joao Victor felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Erike Lima (202-99) with 10 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Weverton Holanda (203-94) scored 10 points. Londrina maintains fourth position with 4-6 record, which they share with Anapolis. Maringa lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with nine games lost.
