Botafogo - Ponta Grossa 76-80

Ponta Grossa nipped Botafogo in the opener. Ponta Grossa forced 20 Botafogo turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Wilson Carneiro (175-94) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Nathanael Nascimento (188-94) contributed with 12 points, 5 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Five Ponta Grossa players scored in double figures. Naturalized Italian point guard Paulinho Boracini (183-84) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Eduardo Machado (193-82) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Botafogo. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.

Joinville - Blumenau 58-85

Blumenau rallied past Joinville in Game 1. Blumenau dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Joinville's 32. Blumenau forced 21 Joinville turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American guard Deonta Stocks (185-88, college: UWG) stepped up and scored 12 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winners and point guard Adyel Pereira (188-2) chipped in 20 points and 5 steals. At the losing side point guard Lucas Campos (190-97) responded with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Diego Silva (206-90) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Osasco rolled over Londrina for 1-0 lead. Osasco looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Londrina's players. Guard Gustavo Scaglia (193-93, college: Arizona W. CC) nailed 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and forward Renato Scholz (197-88) accounted for 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Osasco players scored in double figures. Osasco's coach Joao Lourenco used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Pedro Silva (183-98, college: S.Mountain) came up with 27 points (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and point guard Robson Junior (178-0) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for Londrina in the defeat.

Corinthians upset Brusque to grab 1-0 advantage. Corinthians shot 21 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Brusque only scored four points from the stripe. Corinthians had a 38-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Brusque helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Center Ralfi Ansaloni (211-87) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Icaro Parisotto (185-92, college: SDCC) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Gabriel Vargas (194-98) produced 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized American point guard Kevin Nascimento (185-92, college: Fisher) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
