Here is the weekly review of the top performing Brazilian players, who play currently abroad.

Scott Machado
Scott Machado
#1. This week's number one is former international guard Scott Machado (186-90, college: Iona, currently plays in Australia). He could not help Cairns Taipans (8-26) in their last game. Despite Machado's very good performance the bottom-ranked Cairns Taipans lost 96-101 on the road to the higher-ranked (#6) Bullets. He had a double-double by scoring 23 points and making 11 passes. Machado also added 6 rebounds in 36 minutes on the court. It was Cairns Taipans' eighth consecutive loss in a row. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Machado has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.6ppg, 3.5rpg, 6.9apg, 2FGP: 43.6%, 3FGP: 35.6% and FT: 80.6% in 33 games he played so far. Machado is a naturalized American. He played for the Brazilian senior national team three years ago. Strangely Machado has never played in Brazil.

Bruno Caboclo
Bruno Caboclo
#2. Second place goes to former international small forward Bruno Caboclo (206-95, currently plays in France). He led Limoges CSP Elite to a victory against the 14th-ranked Cholet Basket (10-18) 77-71 in the French Jeep ELITE ProA last Tuesday. Caboclo scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Limoges CSP Elite (3-1) is placed first in the Jeep ELITE ProA. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Caboclo has relatively good stats this season: 12.2ppg, 5.7rpg, 2FGP: 59.3%(35-59), 3FGP: 44.9% and FT: 69.7%. He played for the Brazilian national team in 2019.

Hatila Passos
Hatila Passos
#3. The Brazilian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international center Hatila Passos (211-85, college: NM State, currently plays in Uruguay). Passos contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Malvin (8-4) 100-85 in a derby game in the Uruguayan LUB in Tuesday night's game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 13 rebounds. Passos also added 2 blocks. Atletico Bigua Montevideo (6-4) is placed fifth in the LUB. This season Passos has relatively solid stats: 11.6ppg, 13.0rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 71.4%(20-28) and FT: 81.8%. He has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and Uruguayan. Former Paulistano/Unimed Sao Paolo starter played for the Brazilian national team eleven years ago.

Raul Neto
Raul Neto
#4. Point guard Raul Neto (185-92, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a Washington Wizards' surprising victory against the Philadelphia 76ers (49-23) 122-114 in the NBA last Monday. Neto recorded 11 points in 22 minutes. The Washington Wizards have 34-38 record this season. It's Neto's first year with the team. He has reliable stats this year: 8.5ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg in 70 games. Neto used to play for the Brazilian national team back in 2016.

Dimitris Sousa
Dimitris Sousa
#5. Former U19 international forward Dimitris Sousa (198-94, college: UVA Wise, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help Avellino in their game against Pozzuoli (7-15) in the Italian Serie B (third division). He recorded 9 points and had 3 steals. But the 12th-placed Avellino (8-14) was defeated 82-71 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Pozzuoli (#14) in the Group D. Sousa's stats this season are: 14.7ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.2apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Greek and Brazilian. Sousa used to play for the Brazilian U19 national team twelve years ago.

The list of other players, who all have Brazilian passport but never been selected to any of Brazilian national teams:

#1. Oscar Da Silva (206-PF-98, college: Stanford, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Brose Bamberg crushing them 95-73 in the German BBL on Thursday night. Da Silva scored 8 points in only 14 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg (30-4) is placed first in the BBL. This year Da Silva's overall stats are: 6.3ppg and 3.1rpg in 15 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and German. Despite Da Silva's Brazilian passport, he previously played for the German U19 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Brazilian team.

#2. Bruno Duranti (197-F-93, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an easy victory against the third-ranked Cividale (15-7) 74-59 in the Italian Serie B (third division) in Sunday night's game. He recorded 7 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 27 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in Group D. Cus Jonico Basket Taranto (19-3) is placed second. Duranti's stats this year are: 10.1ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.5apg in 26 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Italian. Despite Duranti's Brazilian nationality, he previously played for the Italian U16 national team and probably cannot be called to the Brazilian team.

#3. Renato Ribeiro (190-F-95, currently plays in Portugal). Ribeiro could not help Sanjoanense (4-8) to beat Galomar (8-1). He scored 5 points. Sanjoanense (#6) was defeated 74-60 on the road by the higher-ranked Galomar (#3) in the North group. Ribeiro's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Ribeiro's overall stats this season are: 4.8ppg and 1.8rpg.

#4. Rodrigo Almeida (95, currently plays in Portugal) managed to help Clube Atletico Queluz in a victory against the eighth-ranked Coracao do Ribatejo (1-8) crushing them 95-39 in the Portuguese Proliga (second division) on Sunday night. He scored only 3 points in 5 minutes on the court. It was his first game for NB Queluz this season. His team is placed third in South group. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.

#5. Tim Soares (211-C-97, college: Master's, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to help Samsun (20-10) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Soares' good performance Samsun was defeated 74-68 at home by the lower-ranked Mamak (#5). He recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 13 rebounds. It's Soares' first season with the team. Soares' stats this year are: 14.1ppg, 9.5rpg and 1.7apg. He is a naturalized American. Apparently Soares has never played in Brazil.
