LDB U20 Round 14 of Regular Season

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The biggest surprise of round 14 was guest Franca's (#2) road victory over Sao Paulo (#3) 63-61 on Friday evening. Franca forced 25 Sao Paulo turnovers. The best player for the winners was international power forward Marcio Santos (204-2) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Reynan Santos (192-4) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Matheus Eugeniusz (192-0) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Franca maintains second position with 8-1 record behind leader Pinheiros. Sao Paulo at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Corinthians. Franca are looking forward to face Pato (#11) in Pato Branco in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sao Paulo's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paulo Paulistano.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Sao Paulo: Paulistano (#1) and Corinthians (#4). Paulistano (9-0) smashed visiting Corinthians (7-2) by 16 points 73-57. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Corinthians. Point guard Beto Fagundes (188-0) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 4 steals. Anderson Barbosa contributed with 8 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Ludwig Agustinho (202-1) replied with 15 points and 7 rebounds for Corinthians. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Paulistano have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-0 record. Corinthians at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Sao Paulo. Paulistano's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Sao Paulo.
Bottom-ranked Pato (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 98-65 loss to fifth ranked Sao Jose (6-3) in Pato Branco on Friday evening. Joao Moda scored 26 points to lead the charge for the winners. Vitor Oliveira responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sao Jose maintains fifth position with 6-3 record. Loser Pato still closes the standings with nine games lost. Sao Jose will meet at home higher ranked Corinthians (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pato will play against the league's second-placed Franca (#2) in Sao Paulo and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Yohan Alves (202-99) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Igor Dos Santos (195-99) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Four Coritiba players scored in double figures.
