LDB U20 Round 15: Paulistano edge Sao Paulo by two after a very close game- September 1, 2021
The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Sao Jose - Corinthians 71-78 No shocking result in a game when third ranked Corinthians (8-2) beat on the road 5th ranked Sao Jose (6-4) 78-71 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Pedro Nunes (197-0) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Ludwig Agustinho (202-1) accounted for 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Center Joao Moda (204-1) came up with 29 points and 8 rebounds and Pedro Pereira (190-1) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Sao Jose in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Corinthians maintains third place with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Pinheiros. Loser Sao Jose keeps the fifth position with four games lost. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for forward Vitor Narcizio (193-2) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Felipao Nascimento (198-3) accounted for 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th placed Sao Paulo (7-3) to leader Paulistano (10-0) 68-66 on Saturday evening. It was a good game for guard Buiu Silva (189-1) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Bruno Cardoso (200-2) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Matheus Eugeniusz (192-0) answered with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Rafael Santos (200-99) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Sao Paulo. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Paulistano have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-0 record. Sao Paulo lost third consecutive game. It was a great evening for guard Daniel Von Haydin (194-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Chamone Silva (185-99) helped adding 20 points. Four Cerrado players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Bruno Santilli (190-0) with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Elton Partite scored 13 points. Rio Claro's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Cerrado. They maintain second place with 6-1 record having seven points less than leader Pinheiros. Rio Claro at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Cerrado will play against league's leader Pinheiros in Sao Paulo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rio Claro will play at home against Bauru and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
