LDB U20 Round 1 (Second Stage): Corinthians lose to Franca

The Second Stage in LDB U20 just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game of round 1 took place in Sao Paulo where Franca crushed Corinthians 79-56 on Monday night. Franca dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Corinthians' 26. Franca forced 19 Corinthians turnovers and outrebounded them 38-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. International power forward Marcio Santos (204-2) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and point guard Adyel Pereira (188-2) chipped in 21 points. At the losing side swingman Pedro Nunes (197-0) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Corinthians will play next round against strong Pinheiros trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paulo - Pinheiros. Franca will try to continue on its current victory against Rio Claro. It will be extra interesting game as Rio Claro is their local rival from Sao Paulo.

International center Dikembe Andre (206-99) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Paulo Scheuer accounted for 32 points (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Guard Fernando Andreolli (190-0) came up with 11 points and 6 rebounds for Rio Claro in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rio Claro will play next round against strong Franca trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paulo - Franca. Pinheiros will try to continue on its current victory against Corinthians. It will be extra interesting game as Corinthians is their local rival from Sao Paulo.

Gui Santos fired a double-double by scoring 22 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Daniel Von Haydin produced 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Minas will meet Paulistano in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cerrado will play against Sao Paulo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 1 Paulistano won against Sao Paulo on the opponent's court 82-77.
