The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Mogi (6-9) and U.Corinthians (4-10), which took place in Santa Cruz do Sul. Higher ranked Mogi lost to fifteenth ranked U.Corinthians in a road game 80-92 on Tuesday. U.Corinthians dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Mogi's 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international Guilherme Teichmann (204-83, college: Tulsa) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 15 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals. Argentinian point guard Enzo Cafferata (186-88) contributed with 22 points and 6 assists for the winners. U.Corinthians' coach Athos Calderaro used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Wesley Alves (198-96) answered with 18 points for Mogi. U.Corinthians maintains fifteenth place with 4-10 record. Mogi lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another upset was a game between Caxias do Sul (7-8) and Mogi (6-9), which took place in Caxias do Sul. Higher ranked Caxias do Sul lost at home to eleventh ranked Mogi 73-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Caxias do Sul. Center Thiago Mathias (208-89, college: N.Mexico JC) stepped up and scored 9 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Lucas Lacerda chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Center Wesley Sena (210-96) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Mogi moved-up to eighth place. Caxias do Sul at the other side keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another upset was a game between Pato (5-9) and U.Corinthians (4-10), which took place in Santa Cruz do Sul. Higher ranked Pato lost to fifteenth ranked U.Corinthians in a road game 68-74 on Thursday. Enzo Cafferata nailed 17 points for the winning side. Mateo Bolivar came up with 17 points and 5 rebounds for Pato in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. U.Corinthians maintains fifteenth place with 4-10 record. Loser Pato dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. They share it with Paulistano and Cerrado. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 17: Corinthians was beaten by Bauru on the road 77-71. Caxias do Sul won against Pato Basquete on its own court 80-67. Flamengo managed to outperform Cerrado in Rio de Janeiro 91-75.



Bauru - Corinthians 77-71

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (10-3) beat at home 15th ranked Corinthians (3-11) 77-71 on Tuesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The former international center Rafael Hettsheimeir (210-86) nailed 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and international guard Alex Garcia (190-80, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 14 points and 7 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Forward Alexandre Paranhos (204-92) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and forward Lucas Siewert (208-97, college: Colorado) added 7 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Corinthians in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Corinthians' coach Leo Alves rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Paschoalotto/Bauru moved-up to fourth place. Corinthians lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Very expected game when 11th ranked Pato (5-9) lost on the road to sixth ranked Caxias do Sul (7-8) 80-67 on Tuesday. Caxias do Sul looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Pato's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Caxias do Sul made 7 blocks. Rafa Oliveira (199-93) nailed 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and guard Caue Freitas (192-88) accounted for 7 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Caxias do Sul players scored in double figures. Victor Leal (203-96) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Matheusinho Brito (184-0) added 11 points and 5 assists respectively for Pato in the defeat. Very predictable result when second ranked Flamengo (12-2) won against 12th ranked Cerrado (5-9) in Brasilia 91-75 on Thursday. Flamengo outrebounded Cerrado 48-30 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international forward Olivinha Rodriguez (202-83) nailed 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side and international point guard Yago Matheus (173-99) accounted for 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. American guard Isaac Thornton (193-91, college: Fairmont St.) came up with 24 points and center Romulo Gusmao (208-95) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Cerrado in the defeat. Five Flamengo and four Cerrado players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Flamengo have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 12-2 record behind leader Sesi Franca. Cerrado lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost.
