Joao Mamedes claims Brazilian CBC League Hoops Agents weekly honour

Joao Mamedes (201-PF-1998) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Praia and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents CBC League Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 23-year old power forward had the game-high 30 points adding nine rebounds and three assists for Praia in his team's victory, helping them to beat Basquete Santos (#4, 1-2) 95-80. Praia was forced-out from the top positions in Brazilian CBC League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Praia will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. Mamedes has many years of experience at Praia, through which he has constantly improved. Mamedes has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (7th best: 14.7ppg), rebounds (5th best: 7.7rpg) and averages solid 2.0bpg and 57.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young power forward Douglas Correa (204-F/C-1991) of Mesquita/LSB. Correa impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds. Of course Mesquita/LSB cruised to a 80-72 relatively comfortable win over Botafogo (0-2). His team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Correa is one of the most experienced players at Mesquita/LSB and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Wilson Carneiro (175-PG-1994) of Botafogo (#7). Carneiro got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. Despite Carneiro's great performance Botafogo lost 67-77 to Sao Jose (#1, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Botafogo can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group A. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. Too bad for Carneiro he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Carneiro has a very solid season. In 2 games in Brazil he scored 20.5ppg.
