Abreu's double-double lands him CBC League Player of the Week award

17-year old forward Leandro Abreu (195-F-2004) put on an amazing game in the last round for Basquete Santos and receives a Hoops Agents CBC League Player of the Week award for round 7.
He had a double-double of 21 points and 25 rebounds, while his team edged out Praia (#2, 6-3) 78-76. Basquete Santos is placed at 4th position in Brazilian CBC League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Basquete Santos will need more victories to improve their 5-4 record. Abreu just recently signed at Basquete Santos, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Abreu has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 10.6rpg).

Second best performed player last round was Yan Djalo (202-F-2001) of Osasco. He is naturalized Guinea-Bissau forward in his first season at Osasco. In the last game Djalo recorded impressive 21 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. It was enough for Osasco to edge slightly higher-ranked Praia (#2, 6-3) by 2 points 81-79. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group A. Osasco consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. His team's 5-4 record is not bad at all. Djalo is one of the most experienced players at Osasco and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to another Basquete Santos' star - guard Jean Oliveira (177-PG-2001). Oliveira scored 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He was another key player of Basquete Santos, helping his team with a 93-89 win against slightly lower-ranked Vila Nova/AEGB (#5, 4-5). Basquete Santos needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Group A. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 4 lost games. Oliveira has a very solid season. In 9 games in Brazil he scored 14.0ppg.
