Brazilian CBC League round 8 best performance: Patrick Vieira (by Hoops Agents)

Point guard Patrick Vieira (186-PG-1993) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Praia, receiving a Hoops Agents CBC League Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 28-year old player was the main contributor (27 points, three rebounds and six assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Botafogo (#6, 3-9) 82-73. Praia maintains the 2nd position in their group in Brazilian CBC League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Praia will need more victories to improve their 8-4 record. In the team's last game Vieira had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Praia's top player in his first season with the team. Patrick Vieira has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 16.8ppg. Vieira is in league's top in assists (2nd best: 5.0apg) and averages impressive 2.3spg and 50.9% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Fabricio Verissimo (192-G-1998) of Mesquita/LSB. Verissimo had a very good evening with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Mesquita/LSB lost that game 77-97 to the higher-ranked Praia (#2, 8-4). Mesquita/LSB managed to keep the same 7th spot in Group A. 10 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Mesquita/LSB managed to get this year. Verissimo is one of the most experienced players at Mesquita/LSB and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was guard Andre Mendes (192-SG-1993) of Botafogo (#6). Mendes showcased his all-around game by recording 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in the last round. Despite Mendes' great performance Botafogo lost 75-82 to the higher-ranked Basquete Santos (#3, 8-4). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Botafogo can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group A. They have rather bad season and 3-9 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Mendes has individually a great season in Brazil. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.3ppg (3rd best).
