Brazilian LDB U20 round 1 best performance: Matheusinho Brito

Point guard Matheusinho Brito (184-PG-2000) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Vasco da Gama, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 22-year old player was the main contributor (27 points, nine rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Coritiba (#2, 2-1) 76-68. It allowed Vasco da Gama to consolidate first place in the Brazilian LDB U20. The season is still on an early stage, but Vasco da Gama already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. Brito has many years of experience at Vasco da Gama, through which he has constantly improved. Matheusinho Brito has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 28.3ppg. Brito is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 9.3rpg), assists (4th best: 3.0apg) and averages impressive 2.3spg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Matheus Ribas (182-G-2000) of league's second-best Coritiba. Ribas had a very good evening with 21 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. It was enough for Coritiba to edge Cerrado (2-1) 70-64. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Ribas is one of the most experienced players at Coritiba and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Ruan Miranda (205-C/F-2001) of Cerrado (#3). Miranda scored 19 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Cerrado, leading his team to a 74-52 easy win against #4 ranked Caxias do Sul in a game of the week. Cerrado needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Group B. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 1 lost game. Miranda has a great season in Brazil. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.0ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 12.0rpg (2nd best).
