Point guard Alexsander Vernizz (183-PG-2000) put on an amazing game in the last round for Praia, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 22-year old player tried to help (26 points, three rebounds and three assists) his team in a lost game to Sao Jose (#2, 9-1) 74-78. Praia maintains the 4th position in their group in Brazilian LDB U20. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Praia will need to avoid more loses keep or improve their 7-3 record. In the team's last game Vernizz had a remarkable three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He turned to be Praia's top player in his first season with the team. Alexsander Vernizz has solid league stats. He is in league's top in assists (7th best: 4.6apg) and averages impressive 1.4bpg,3.1spg,53.7% FGP and 42.4% from behind 3-point line.
The second best player in last round's games was young Afonso Campos (205-PF-2004) of Pato. Campos had a very good evening with a double-double of 18 points and 16 rebounds. Of course Pato cruised to a 72-61 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Campo Mourao (#9, 2-8). This victory allowed Pato to move up to 8th position in Group A. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-7 record. Campos is a newcomer at Pato, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was guard Matheusinho Brito (184-PG-2000) of Vasco da Gama (#8). Brito scored 29 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Brito's great performance Vasco da Gama lost 67-72 to the higher-ranked Corinthians (#2, 8-2). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Vasco da Gama ranking at the top of Group B, however are very questionable as they have already lost 6 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Brito could help Vasco da Gama to bring them higher in the standings. Brito has a great season in Brazil. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.8ppg (best scorer).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
