Ponta-Grossa-Basquete (Parana) tabbed 25-year old 201cm power forward Joao Mamedes. Mamedes played last summer at Liga Sorocabana de Basquete in Brazilian Paulista. Paulista was a little too high level for him, where in 7 games he averaged just 1.4ppg and 1.0rpg. Parana will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. He helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. Good season as he was voted League Player of the Week. Mamedes also spent pre-season at Basquete Tatui/AABT (CBB). Good season as he was also here selected League Player of the Week. The other team he played shortly was Liga Sorocabana de Basquete (Paulista). Paulista was a little too high level for him, where in 7 games he had only 1.4ppg and 1.0rpg. He contributed to his team ending the regular season as at the second position in the league. Good season as he was also here voted League Player of the Week.
Mamedes has played previously for seven other teams: Pinheiros, Macae, Londrina, Blackstar, Pinheiros, Sao Paulo and Blackstar. He was also selected to Latinbasket.com All-CBC League Forward of the Year in 2022.
Mamedes won Brazilian LDB U21 League championship title in 2018.
