CBB Round 2: Araraquara loses to Blumenau

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in CBB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round took place in Blumenau between Araraquara and Blumenau on Sunday night. Araraquara was crushed by Blumenau on the road 41-62. Blumenau outrebounded Araraquara 48-33 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Leonardo Cravero (200-2002) orchestrated the victory by scoring 5 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Enzo Bortoluzzi (186-2005) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Power forward Abner Moreira (206-1989, college: Idaho St.) replied with 8 points and 10 rebounds for Araraquara. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Blumenau is looking forward to face Vitoria in Salvador in the next round. Araraquara will have a break next round.
Very important is a road loss of Osasco against Blumenau on Tuesday night. Visiting Osasco was defeated by Blumenau in Blumenau 94-76. Guard Enzo Bortoluzzi (186-2005) scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and Leonardo Cravero chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Blumenau's coach Andre Germano used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Italian point guard Paulinho Boracini (183-1984) responded with 18 points and 5 assists. Blumenau will play against Vitoria in Salvador in the next round. Osasco will have a break next round.
An interesting game for Brusque which hosted in Brusque Araraquara. Brusque managed to get a 9-point victory 80-71. Rodrigo Silva notched 16 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the effort. Even 16 points and 6 rebounds by Gustavo Scaglia did not help to save the game for Araraquara. Brusque will meet Vitoria in the next round. Araraquara will have a break next round.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 2: winless Pinda was smashed by Praia on the road 83-53. Brusque won against Osasco on its own court 73-64. Santos outscored Pinda in a road game 91-57. Praia managed to beat Sorocabana at home 65-58. Sorocabana lost to undefeated Cruzeiro on the opponent's court 41-59.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 15 points and 12 rebounds by Derick Machado of Cruzeiro.

Praia - Pinda 83-53

No shocking result in a game when Praia crushed at home Pinda 83-53 on Sunday. Praia forced 23 Pinda turnovers. Point guard Alexsander Vernizz (183-2000) notched 16 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and Matheus Penteado (203-2001) supported him with 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Praia players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds by forward Erik Jardim (198-1989) did not help to save the game for Pinda. Center Daniel Franca (204-1991) added 12 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Praia will meet Santos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pinda will have a break next round.

Rather predictable result when Santos rolled over on the road Pinda 91-57 on Thursday. They outrebounded Pinda 45-31 including 34 on the defensive glass. Guard Gabriel De Oliveira (202-1993) notched 23 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and power forward Dida Pereira (202-1992, college: Sequoias CC) supported him with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Five Santos players scored in double figures. Santos' coach Daniel Correa Leque felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Erik Jardim (198-1989) did not help to save the game for Pinda. Guard Joao Belmiro (186-2002) added 12 points for the hosts. Santos will meet at home Praia in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Pinda will have a break next round.
