NBB Round 32: Vivo/Franca beat Flamengo in the most crucial game of the week

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sao Paulo. Top-ranked Vivo/Franca faced second-ranked Flamengo. Host Vivo/Franca (32-0) defeated guests from Rio de Janeiro (28-4) 83-70. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Flamengo. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Georginho de Paula (197-1996) who scored 17 points and 5 assists. The former international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-1993) chipped in 17 points. Vivo/Franca's coach Helinho Garcia used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international point guard Ricardo Fischer (183-1991) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Undefeated Vivo/Franca have an impressive 32-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 32-0 record. Flamengo at the other side keeps the second place with four games lost.

Bauru outscored U.Corinthians in a home game 81-61. Bottom-ranked Cerrado recorded a loss to Pato Basquete on the road 98-91.




Pinheiros - U.Corinthians 94-70

There was no surprise in Sao Paulo where 13th ranked U.Corinthians (9-22) was crushed by sixth ranked Pinheiros (20-12) 94-70. Pinheiros dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to U.Corinthians' 18. They outrebounded U.Corinthians 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Canadian forward Richard Amardi (206-1990, college: Oregon, agency: BIG) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Matheus Eugeniusz (193-2000) contributed with 21 points and 4 steals (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. American MikeL Simms (196-1997, college: VCU) replied with 27 points and point guard Augusto Leao (184-1998) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for U.Corinthians.
