CBB Round 6: Brusque lose their first game against Araraquara

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Brusque (7-1) on the court of third ranked Araraquara on Tuesday night. Visitors were rolled over by Araraquara 75-50. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Brusque. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Araraquara dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Brusque's 18. They outrebounded Brusque 45-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. The former international point guard Welington Santos (185-1981) scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Abner Moreira (206-1989, college: Idaho St.) chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Araraquara's coach Fabio Apolinario felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was guard Luis Otavio Vieira (196-1992) with 10 points and 7 rebounds. Araraquara have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Blumenau. Brusque at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Cruzeiro.
Important game to mention about took place in Osasco. Second ranked Blumenau (5-3) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 4th ranked Osasco (3-5) 98-96 on Friday evening. Power forward Leonardo Bispo (206-1996) notched 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and Enzo Bortoluzzi supported him with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Blumenau's coach Andre Germano allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 22 points and 9 rebounds by point guard Bruno Viana (191-1993) did not help to save the game for Osasco. Blumenau maintains second position with 5-3 record having just two points less than leader Cruzeiro, which they share with Araraquara. Osasco lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Sorocabana.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Araraquara. Third ranked host Araraquara (5-3) defeated second-best Blumenau (5-3) 85-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Blumenau. The best player for the winners was Welington Santos who scored 13 points and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Lucas Farina who recorded 14 points and 4 assists. Araraquara have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Blumenau.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 6: Brusque won against Osasco on the opponent's court 72-62. Praia outscored Santos in a home game 86-63. Santos recorded a loss to Cruzeiro on the road 60-54.
