Center Gabriel Novaes (208-C-2001) had a very impressive game in the last round for Pato, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 22-year old player had a double-double of 22 points and 17 rebounds, while his team beat Sao Paulo (#19, 2-6) 67-62. Pato maintains the 5th position in Brazilian LDB U20. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Pato will need more victories to improve their 6-2 record. Novaes has many years of experience at Pato, through which he has constantly improved. Gabriel Novaes has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (8th best: 16.6ppg) and rebounds (9th best: 11.1rpg).
The second best player in last round's games was young Gustavo Almeida (2003) of Bauru. Almeida had a very good evening with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. Of course he led Bauru to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Brasilia (#18, 2-6) 80-60. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Bauru keeps 12th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 4-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Almeida is one of the most experienced players at Bauru and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
Third on the list of top players last round was guard Arthur Costa (185-PG-2001) of Rio Claro (#14). Costa got into 30-points club by scoring 34 points in the last round. He went also for five rebounds . He was a key player of Rio Claro, leading his team to a 71-63 win against the higher-ranked Caxias do Sul (#3, 7-1). The chances of Rio Claro not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 5 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Costa could try to bring Rio Claro's a little bit higher in the standings. Costa has a very solid season. In 7 games in Brazil he scored 12.0ppg. He also has 4.1rpg and FGP: 57.9%.
