Nick Silva claims Brazilian LDB U20 Hoops Agents weekly honour

Talented Nick Silva (198-F-2001) had an amazing evening in the last round for Joinville and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 11.
The 22-year old forward had the game-high 26 points adding eight rebounds for Joinville in his team's victory, helping them to beat Rio Claro (#17, 3-6) 73-63. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Thanks to this victory Joinville moved-up to the 23th position in Brazilian LDB U20. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Joinville have already lost 8 games and recorded just one victory. In the team's last game Silva had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He has many years of experience at Joinville, through which he has constantly improved. Davis & Elkins College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Silva is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 7.3rpg) and assists (9th best: 0.9apg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young guard Raffael Mencarini (187-G-2001) of Praia. Mencarini impressed basketball fans with 27 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course he led Praia to another comfortable win 69-56 over the lower-ranked Flamengo (#15, 3-5) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Praia dropped in the standings to 11th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 5-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Mencarini is one of the most experienced players at Praia and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.9ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 4.3rpg and 3.6apg.

The third best performed player last round was Edu Elevi (207-C/F-2001) of SESI Franca (#8). Elevi scored 27 points and grabbed eighteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Elevi's great performance SESI Franca lost 61-69 to the higher-ranked Caxias do Sul (#5, 7-2). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing SESI Franca needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 6 victories and 3 lost games. Elevi has a great season in Brazil. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.3rpg (4th best).
