Arthur Abreu claims Brazilian LDB U20 weekly honour

Talented Arthur Abreu (193-G-2002) had a great game in the last round for Praia and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 21-year old guard had the game-high 31 points adding eight rebounds for Praia in his team's victory, helping them to beat Sao Jose (#7, 8-3) 91-86. Praia maintains the 9th position in Brazilian LDB U20. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Praia will need more victories to improve their 7-3 record. In the team's last game Abreu had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He has many years of experience at Praia, through which he has constantly improved. Abreu has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 17.3ppg), assists (3rd best: 1.6apg) and averages solid 56.9% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young point guard Arthur Costa (185-PG-2001) of Rio Claro. Costa impressed basketball fans with 35 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course he led Rio Claro to another comfortable win 99-83 over the lower-ranked Uniao Corinthians (#21, 1-10) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Rio Claro managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 15th place. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-7 record. Costa is one of the most experienced players at Rio Claro and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another Praia's star - Raffael Mencarini (187-G-2001). Mencarini scored 29 points and passed four assists. He was another key player of Praia, helping his team with a 91-86 win against slightly higher-ranked Sao Jose (#7, 8-3). Praia needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 3 lost games. Mencarini has a great season in Brazil. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.5ppg (best scorer). He also has 2.1spg and FGP: 58.3%.
