The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Vivo/Franca (#5) and Corinthians (#8). Vivo/Franca (4-0) won against visiting Corinthians (2-2) 93-88. Vivo/Franca made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Vivo/Franca outrebounded Corinthians 36-24 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Corinthians' coach Silvio Santander rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vivo/Franca have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Corinthians at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with two games lost. Vivo/Franca are looking forward to face league's leader Minas in Belo Horizonte in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Corinthians' supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paulo Paulistano.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Vasco da Gama (4-2) against tenth ranked Flamengo (3-1) on Friday night. Host Vasco da Gama was edged by Flamengo in a tough game in Rio de Janeiro 65-68. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Vasco da Gama. The winners were led by the former international Gabriel Galvanini (202-1998) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and Martin Cuello supported him with 20 points. Even 11 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists by guard Caue Freitas (192-1988) did not help to save the game for Vasco da Gama. Vasco da Gama's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Flamengo have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Vasco da Gama dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Bauru and Paulistano. Flamengo will play against Brasilia (#13) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Vasco da Gama will play against Brasilia (#13) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Brasilia was beaten by U.Corinthians on its own court 82-92. Paulistano won against Pinheiros in Sao Paulo 72-68. Winless Mogi lost to undefeated Minas at home 70-79. Sesi Franca managed to beat Botafogo on the opponent's court 86-79. Brasilia was defeated by Caxias do Sul in a home game 69-77. Pinheiros was beaten by Bauru on the road 74-70. Cearense won against UniFacisa on its own court 77-65.
