The most important game in the last round took place in Pato Branco between second ranked Flamengo (17-4) and tenth ranked Pato (10-12) on Saturday night. Flamengo was defeated by Pato in a tough game on the road 91-97. Pato made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Minas (18-3) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Newly promoted Vasco da Gama dropped to the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Paulistano. Minas will play against Cerrado (#17) in Brasilia in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Vasco da Gama will play at home against Caxias do Sul (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Sao Jose between Pinheiros and Sao Jose. Thirteenth ranked Pinheiros (9-11) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Sao Jose (11-9). Pinheiros managed to escape with a 2-point win 73-71 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sao Jose. Jimmy Oliveira scored 12 points to lead the charge for the winners. Diego Figueredo responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Pinheiros moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Sao Jose keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

U.Corinthians - Caxias do Sul 79-75

There was a minor upset in Santa Cruz do Sul where 14th ranked Caxias do Sul (6-13) was defeated by sixteenth ranked U.Corinthians (6-13) 79-75 on Friday. U.Corinthians made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Caxias do Sul outrebounded U.Corinthians 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Serbian guard Radovan Djokovic (196-1996) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Duane Johnson (201-1991, college: ESU) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. U.Corinthians' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Kenny Dawkins (177-1987, college: Lamar) responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Diego Conceicao (199-1987) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. U.Corinthians moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with defeated Caxias do Sul. Caxias do Sul lost fourth consecutive game. U.Corinthians will meet Botafogo (#16) in the next round. Caxias do Sul will play against Vasco da Gama and will have a slim chance for a victory.
