Brazilian NBB round 16 best performance: Marquinhos Vieira (by Hoops Agents)

International Forward Marquinhos Vieira (207-F-1984) had an amazing evening in the last round for CR Vasco Da Gama Rio de Janeiro, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 39-year old player was the main contributor (32 points and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat U.Corinthians (#14, 7-15) 89-77. Vasco da Gama maintains the 4th position in Brazilian NBB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Vasco da Gama will need more victories to improve their 16-7 record. In the team's last game Vieira had a remarkable 87.5% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Vasco da Gama's top player in his first season with the team. Marquinhos Vieira averages this season 13.8ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Thomas Cooper (196-G-1992) of BRB/Brasilia. Cooper had a very good evening with 36 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. It was enough for Brasilia to edge the higher-ranked Pinheiros (#12, 10-12) 92-88. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Brasilia keeps 18th position. 18 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Brasilia managed to get this year. Cooper is a newcomer at Brasilia, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.0ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 4.7rpg and 3.5apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was guard Daniel Von Haydin (194-G-1999) of Cerrado Basquete Brasilia (#17). Von Haydin scored 26 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Von Haydin's great performance the Cerrado lost 61-84 to the higher-ranked Pinheiros (#12, 10-12). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Cerrado can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 5-17 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Von Haydin has a very solid season. In 22 games in Brazil he scored 9.1ppg.
