Naturalized Italian Forward Leonardo Demetrio (203-F-1994) had a very impressive game in the last round for Sport Club Corinthians Paulista and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 25. The 29-year old forward had the game-high 26 points adding six rebounds and two assists for Corinthians in his team's victory, helping them to beat Pinheiros (#12, 13-17) 90-77. Corinthians is placed at 8th position in Brazilian NBB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Corinthians will need more victories to improve their 17-13 record. In the team's last game Demetrio had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He turned to be Corinthians' top player in his first season with the team. Demetrio has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 7.1rpg) and averages solid 61.9% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young center Andre Barbosa de Abreu (212-C-2002) of Cerrado Basquete Brasilia. Barbosa de Abreu impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Cerrado lost that game 65-70 to slightly lower-ranked Mogi (#18, 8-24). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Cerrado keeps 16th position. 23 lost games are too many comparing to just eight victories Cerrado managed to get this year. Barbosa de Abreu is a newcomer at Cerrado and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was American Isaac Thornton (193-G-1991) of Botafogo Rio de Janeiro (#15). Thornton got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. He was a key player of Botafogo, leading his team to a 83-79 win against the higher-ranked Sao Paulo (#11, 15-15). Thornton has individually a great season in Brazil. After 28 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.4ppg (best scorer).
