Elio Corazza claims Brazilian NBB Hoops Agents weekly honour

Experienced International Point guard Elio Corazza (191-PG-1989) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Sport Club Corinthians Paulista and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 28.
The 34-year old playmaker got a double-double of 17 points and 21 assists, while his team beat Caxias do Sul (#18, 8-26) 107-93. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Thanks to this victory Corinthians moved-up to the 10th position in Brazilian NBB. Corinthians is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 18-16 record. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Rafa Oliveira (199-SF-1993) of Caxias do Sul Basquete. Oliveira impressed basketball fans with 31 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Caxias do Sul lost that game 93-107 to the higher-ranked Corinthians (#10, 18-16). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Caxias do Sul keeps 18th position. 26 lost games are too many comparing to just eight victories Caxias do Sul managed to get this year. Oliveira is a newcomer at Caxias do Sul and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was American Thomas Cooper (196-G-1992) of BRB/Brasilia (#19). Cooper scored 26 points and passed 15 assists (!!!). Despite Cooper's great performance the Brasilia lost 100-105 to the higher-ranked Sesi Franca (#2, 30-5). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Brasilia can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 4-30 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Cooper has individually a great season in Brazil. After 34 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.3ppg (4th best).
