NBB Round 30 (Regular Season): Brasilia tries to escape the last position defeating Cearense

The Regular Season in NBB just ended. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Bottom-ranked Brasilia managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the thirteen-game losing streak on Thursday night. This time they edged eighth-ranked Fortaleza 69-68. American guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Paulo Da Costa (193-1994) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Argentinian point guard Sebastian Orresta (188-1993) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Brasilia maintains nineteenth position with 5-31 record. Cearense at the other side keeps the eighth place with 16 games lost.
Seventeenth-ranked Cerrado (8-28) gave a tough game to eighth ranked Fortaleza (20-16) in Brasilia. The visitors from Fortaleza managed to secure only one-point victory 84-83. However their fans expected much easier game. American swingman Dexter McClanahan (193-1997, college: Nicholls St.) notched 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Sebastian Orresta supported him with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists by guard Daniel Von Haydin (194-1999) did not help to save the game for Cerrado. Cerrado's coach Regis Marrelli tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Cearense maintains eighth position with 20-16 record. Cerrado lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth place with 28 games lost. They share the position with Caxias do Sul.
An interesting game took place in Rio de Janeiro where higher ranked Vasco da Gama (24-12) was upset on its own court by thirteenth ranked Pinheiros (15-21) 72-63 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Jimmy Oliveira who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Rafael Paulichi who recorded 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pinheiros maintains thirteenth position with 15-21 record. Newly promoted Vasco da Gama keeps the fourth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Bauru.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 30: Corinthians lost to Vasco da Gama on the opponent's court 78-87. Sao Jose was outscored by Paulistano in a home game 64-93. Minas managed to beat U.Corinthians on the road 88-78. Caxias do Sul was defeated by Pato on its own court 68-85. Mogi was beaten by Bauru in a road game 80-68.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 20 points and 9 rebounds by Anderson Rodrigues of Bauru.

Very expected game in Rio de Janeiro where 10th ranked Corinthians (19-17) was defeated by fourth ranked Vasco da Gama (24-12) 87-78 on Thursday. Vasco da Gama looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Matheus Eugeniusz (193-2000) who scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Marquinhos Vieira (207-1984) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Rafael Hettsheimeir (210-1986) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and the former international point guard Elio Corazza (191-1989, college: Miami Dade CC) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists respectively. Five Vasco da Gama and four Corinthians players scored in double figures. Corinthians' coach Silvio Santander let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Paulistano (22-14) smashed on the road 9th ranked Sao Jose (19-17) 93-64 on Friday. Paulistano shot 60.3 percent from the field. Paulistano had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Lucas Doria (203-1997, college: St.Edward's) who scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Argentinian point guard Santiago Ferreyra (188-1997) chipped in 21 points. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian point guard Diego Figueredo (185-1991, agency: BIG) who recorded 16 points and Douglas Silva (201-1998) added 10 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Paulistano maintains seventh position with 22-14 record. Minas outrebounded U.Corinthians 37-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Alexandre Paranhos (204-1992) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. Argentinian point guard Franco Baralle (185-1999) chipped in 15 points. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized American forward Luiz Machado Jr (200-1998, college: SW Christian) who recorded 26 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and Argentinian guard Enzo Ruiz (194-1988) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Minas have an impressive six-game winning streak.
