CBB Round 5 (Regular Season): Tatui/AABT hands first loss to Praia

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Praia (3-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Tatui/AABT (2-3) 74-67. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Praia. Guard Rafael Castellon (191-1985) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 5 rebounds. The former international power forward William Drudi (206-1981) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Joao Demetrio (208-1995) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds for Praia. Tatui/AABT maintains third place with 2-3 record having just two points less than leader Praia, which they share with Sorocabana. Praia at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Cruzeiro. Tatui/AABT will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Praia will play on the road against Vitoria in Salvador and is hoping to win this game.
Another interesting game for Osasco (4-1) which played on the court of Santos (3-2). First ranked Osasco had an easy win 93-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Santos. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American guard Jamir Moultrie (185, college: Canisius) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and Felipe Dalaqua chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Osasco's coach Adriano Geraldes used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gustavo Ruiz (190-1995) responded with 19 points and 4 assists. Osasco maintains first place with 4-1 record. Santos at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Osasco will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santos will play on the road against Sorocabana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Osasco between Sorocabana and Osasco. Fifth ranked Sorocabana (2-3) got a very close victory on the road over leader Osasco (4-1). Sorocabana managed to escape with a 3-point win 71-68 on Tuesday evening. Anthony Harris nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Jean Oliveira came up with 16 points and 5 rebounds for Osasco in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sorocabana moved-up to third place, which they share with Tatui/AABT. Loser Osasco still keeps top position with one game lost. Sorocabana will meet at home league's second-placed Santos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Osasco will have a break next round.

Derick Machado (198-1996) nailed 6 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and American swingman Jalen Hodges (198, college: UMW, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 11 points and 6 rebounds. The former international power forward William Drudi (206-1981) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Igor Araujo (193-1999) added 5 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Tatui/AABT in the defeat. Cruzeiro used an opportunity after Praia lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Tatui/AABT keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Sorocabana. Cruzeiro will meet Vitoria (#4) in the next round. Tatui/AABT will have a break next round.
