Leoni is back at Flamengo

Matheus Leoni

Flamengo Rio de Janeiro U20 team (LDB U20) added to their roster 21-year old point guard Matheus Leoni (186cm-2003). It is actually his comeback to Flamengo as he has played here before. Leoni played last season at Flamengo in Brazilian NBB league. NBB was a little too high level for him, where in 15 games he had just 0.5ppg. LDB U20 will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. Leoni also played 1 game in BCL Americas, but he did not score anything. The other team he played that season for was Flamengo (NBB). The team played in four different competitions (!!!) that year, and he had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. NBB was a little too high level for him, where in 15 games he recorded only 0.5ppg. He also played 1 game in BCL Americas, but he did not score anything. Leoni also played 11 games in NBB where he averaged only 2.8ppg and 1.5apg in 2022-23 year. He contributed to his team making it to the Brazilian Super 8 final. A very impressive season as he was named to Latinbasket.com All-Brazilian CBB League Second Team. And finally he played 3 games in BCL Americas, but he did not score anything and had only 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.
Leoni was a member of Brazilian U16 National Team in 2019.
He has played previously professionally also in Spain (Canarias) and Brazil (Palmeiras and Cruzeiro).
His team won InterContinental Cup in 2022.
