Brazilian Paulista round 5 best performance: Cordero Bennett

American Guard Cordero Bennett (184-G-1988) had a very impressive game in the last round for second-ranked Sao Paulo FC, receiving a Hoops Agents Paulista Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 36-year old player was the main contributor (28 points, six rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Bauru (#9, 2-4) with 18-point margin 81-63. Sao Paulo maintains the 2nd position in Brazilian Paulista. They are still close to the very top. Sao Paulo would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 5-1 record. In the team's last game Bennett had a remarkable 83.3% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Sao Paulo, through which he has constantly improved. Cordero Bennett has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 16.2ppg) and averages impressive 73.1% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Honorato Bonizioli (206-F/C-2001) of Liga Sorocabana de Basquete. Bonizioli had a very good evening with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Sorocabana lost that game 68-75 to the higher-ranked Sesi/Franca (#4, 4-2). Sorocabana are still at the very bottom. 6 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Bonizioli is a newcomer at Sorocabana and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was international guard Paulo Barbosa (189-G-2003) of Sesi/Franca Sao Paulo (#4). Barbosa scored 20 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. He was a key player of Vivo/Franca, leading his team to a 75-68 win against Sorocabana (#10, 0-6). Sesi/Franca needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 2 lost games. Barbosa has a great season in Brazil. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 2.7rpg (7th best).
