Round 9 most important game was a victory of Corinthians over 5th ranked Paulistano 83-80 on Sunday night. It was a good game for power forward Victao Camilo (203-1997) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Lucas Caue (206-1998) contributed with 18 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American guard Kevin Crescenzi (192-1993, college: Dartmouth) answered with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for Paulistano. Paulistano's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Corinthians maintains fourth place with 5-4 record. Paulistano lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Bauru and Sao Jose.
Important game to mention about took place in Sao Paulo. Second ranked Vivo/Franca (7-2) saved a 3-point derby victory at home edging 6th ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (4-5) 90-87 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Paschoalotto/Bauru. International center Lucas Dias (207-1995) stepped up and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Georginho de Paula chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Alex Garcia (191-1980, agency: Interperformances) with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vivo/Franca have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Sesi/Franca keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Pinheiros and Sao Paulo. Bauru at the other side dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Paulistano and Sao Jose.
A very close game took place in Sao Jose between Sao Paulo and Sao Jose. Third ranked Sao Paulo (7-2) got a very close victory on the road over 5th ranked Sao Jose (4-5). Sao Paulo managed to escape with a 1-point win 80-79 on Sunday evening. Ricardo Fischer nailed 19 points for the winning side. Sao Paulo's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Renato Carbonari came up with 25 points and 7 rebounds for Sao Jose in the defeat. Sao Paulo keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Sesi/Franca and Pinheiros. Loser Sao Jose keeps the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Bauru and Paulistano.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 9: bottom-ranked Sorocabana beat Osasco on the road 68-62. Bottom-ranked Sorocabana lost to Mogi on its own court 83-86. Osasco unfortunately lost to Pinheiros in Sao Paulo 86-96.




Osasco - Sorocabana 62-68

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Sorocabana (1-8) beat on the road 8th ranked Osasco (3-6) 68-62 on Thursday. Sorocabana forced 19 Osasco turnovers. British Eric Donaldson (191-2001) nailed 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side and guard Raffael Mencarini (187-2001) accounted for 24 points and 5 rebounds. The former international point guard Arthur Pecos (188-1994) came up with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Leonardo Bispo (206-1996) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Osasco in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sorocabana maintains tenth place with 1-8 record. Loser Osasco keeps the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Mogi.

Five Mogi and four Sorocabana players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Mogi moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Osasco. Loser Sorocabana stay at the bottom position with eight games lost.

Very predictable result when first ranked Pinheiros (7-2) won against 8th ranked Osasco (3-6) in Sao Paulo 96-86 on Sunday. Pinheiros made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. Guard Reynan Dos Santos (192-2004) nailed 24 points and 6 assists for the winning side and Italian point guard Lucca Boracina (182-2005) accounted for 13 points.
