Scott Machado joins Minas

Scott Machado

Minas Belo Horizonte (NBB) agreed terms with experienced 34-year old Brazilian-American international guard Scott Machado (185cm-85kg-1990, college: Iona) for new 2024-25 season. Machado played last season at Flamengo (NBB). In 40 games he had 7.7ppg, 2.2rpg and 4.2apg. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. Machado also played 10 games in BCL Americas where he recorded 7.3ppg, 2.3rpg and 4.6apg.
The most of previous (2022-23) season he spent at Avtodor in Russian league. In 13 VTB United League games he averaged 9.4ppg, 3.2rpg, 3.7apg and 1.1spg in that year. He also spent pre-season at Hapoel Eilat (Winner League) in Israeli league.
In 2017 (five years after his graduation) he was drafted by South Bay Lakers (G-League) in first round (10th overall).
Machado graduated from Iona College in 2012 and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2015.
Machado has been also a member of Brazilian international program for some years. He has regularly played for Brazilian senior team since 2013 and previously for University National Team back in 2011.
Machado represented Brazil at the Panamerican Games in Santiago (Chile) last year.
He is quite experienced player. Machado's career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in nine different countries. Machado tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Australia and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Australia (Taipans and Magic), Estonia (Kalev/Cramo), France (ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne Basket), Germany (EWE Baskets and Rasta Vechta), Spain (BAXI Manresa), NBA (Denver Nuggets, GS Warriors and LA Lakers), Israel (Next Urban Maccabi Haifa), NBA G League (RGV Vipers) and The Basketball Tournament (Armored Athlete, Team Fancy and Gael Nation).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted to Australiabasket.com Australian NBL All-Imports Team back in 2020.
On Machado: Controls the game without having to score.. Tremendous passer with a great understanding of the game.. Pure point guard that looks to get his teammates involved.
