Botafogo lands Jett Speelman, ex Mechelen

Newly promoted Botafogo Rio de Janeiro (NBB) tabbed 30-year old American 201cm forward Jett Speelman (college: Denison) for new season. He played most recently at Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen in Belgian Pro Basketball League. In two games he averaged just 2.5ppg and 1.5rpg last season. He also played 17 games in BNXT League where he had 3.5ppg and 1.7rpg.
The previous (2023) summer he played at Dorados (LNBP) in Mexican league.
Speelman is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in seven different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Latin American and of course North American leagues. Speelman has played previously professionally in Germany (Rist Wedel), Holland (Yoast United), Iceland, Luxembourg (Amicale), Mexico and Portugal (CAB Madeira).
Among many awards his college team made it to the Dutch Cup final in 2021. He was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Dutch Eredivisie Honorable Mention back in 2021.
Speelman graduated from Denison University in 2017 and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball. He played also for Ashland University for 2 years.
