Botafogo Rio de Janeiro (NBB) signed experienced 35-year old Brazilian center Thiago Mathias (208cm-119kg-1989, college: N.Mexico JC) for upcoming 2024-25 season. Mathias played this summer at Pioneros in Venezuelan SPB league. In 17 games just recently he had 6.8ppg and 5.1rpg. The last season he played at Vasco da Gama in Brazilian NBB where in 39 games he recorded 7.4ppg and 4.4rpg.
He has played also professionally in Argentina (Petrolero), Brazil (Vivo/Franca, Joinville, Paschoalotto/Bauru, Pinheiros and Paulistano) and Ecuador (Piratas). Mathias was also voted to Latinbasket.com All-Brazilian League Honorable Mention back in 2016 and 2021.
His team made it to the National League Semifinals in 2017.
He attended New Mexico Junior College until 2008 and it will be his 17th (!!!) season as a professional player.
