Afonso Pacheco claims Brazilian Liga Ouro weekly honour

Talented Afonso Pacheco (205-C/F-2004) put on an amazing game in the last round for Esporte Clube Pinheiros Sao Paolo and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 20-year old had a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Vitoria (#5, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 82-70. Thanks to this victory Pinheiros moved-up to the 4th position in Brazilian Liga Ouro. Pinheiros is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-1 record. Pacheco just recently signed at Pinheiros and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Pacheco has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 15.0ppg), rebounds (5th best: 8.5rpg) and averages solid 3.5bpg and 58.3% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young forward Anderson Almeida (201-F-1996) of Basket Osasco. Almeida impressed basketball fans with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Osasco was edged by Cruzeiro (2-1) 83-81. The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Almeida is one of the most experienced players at Osasco and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Gabriel Mendes (206-C-1996) of Esporte Clube Vitoria Basquete (#5). Mendes scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). Despite Mendes' great performance the Vitoria lost 70-82 to Pinheiros 2 (#4, 1-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Vitoria can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. The season just started for Mendes as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.

10. Felipao Nascimento (198-PF) of Vitoria - 8 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
