The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Pinheiros (1-1) in Sao Paulo on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Osasco (2-1) 87-78. Osasco 2 made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Pinheiros 2 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for guard Dalaqua Almentra (183-2000) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 5 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Power forward Tarek Santana (205-2001) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Lucca Marcato (-2007) answered with 15 points and 5 assists for Pinheiros 2. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Osasco is looking forward to face Vitoria (#5) in Salvador in the next round. Pinheiros will play on the road against Cruzeiro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Sorocabana 2 (3-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat Vitoria (0-2) in Salvador 62-55. It was a great evening for point guard Lucas Monteiro (183-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Victor Silva helped adding 7 points and 10 rebounds. Sorocabana 2's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was center Gabriel Mendes (206-1996) with 9 points and 16 rebounds. Sorocabana 2 will play against Pinheiros 2 (#4) in Sao Paulo in the next round. Vitoria will play at home against Osasco 2 and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Belo Horizonte was also quite interesting. Cruzeiro (2-1) played at the court of Minas (0-3). Cruzeiro defeated Minas 90-74 on Tuesday. It was an exceptional evening for Lucas Farina who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 6 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals. Cruzeiro's coach Thiago Perez used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Vinci Oliveira came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds for Minas in the defeat. Cruzeiro will meet at home Pinheiros 2 (#4) in the next round. Minas will have a break next round.
