Monteiro's 21 points give him Player of the Week award

23-year old point guard Lucas Monteiro (183-PG-2001) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team Liga Sorocabana de Basquete and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
He had the game-high 21 points adding five rebounds for Sorocabana 2 in his team's victory, helping them to beat Vitoria (#5, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 62-55. It allowed Sorocabana to consolidate first place in the Brazilian league. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Sorocabana already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Monteiro had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Lucas Monteiro averages just after three games 10.7ppg.

Second best performed player last round was Gabriel Mendes (206-C-1996) of Esporte Clube Vitoria Basquete. He is a center in his first season at Vitoria. In the last game Mendes recorded an impressive 9 points, 16 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Vitoria lost that game 55-62 to Sorocabana 2 (3-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Despite Oliveira's great performance the Minas lost 74-90 to Cruzeiro (#2, 2-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Minas can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 3 games. Oliveira has individually a great season in Brazil. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.7rpg (2nd best) and assists with 1.3apg (8th best).
