Round 5 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Sorocabana 2 (3-2). They were defeated by third ranked Osasco (4-1) 68-61 on Thursday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Guard Dalaqua Almentra (183-2000) stepped up and scored 22 points for the winners and point guard Jean Oliveira (177-2001) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists. Danilo Penteado (199-1999) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Osasco have a solid series of three victories in a row. Osasco 2 keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Cruzeiro. Sorocabana 2 at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Cruzeiro. Sorocabana 2 will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Osasco 2 will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Minas in Belo Horizonte.

Cruzeiro smashed bottom-ranked Vitoria at home 95-65. Point guard Cassiano Bueno (189-1997) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and Lucas Farina accounted for 19 points and 5 assists. Guilherme Miranda (-2005) came up with 11 points and 8 rebounds for Vitoria in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cruzeiro have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Osasco 2. Vitoria at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Vitoria will play next round against Minas trying to get back on the winning streak. Cruzeiro will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Osasco 2 at home.
