Brazilian CBB round 4 best performance: Jose Carlos (by Hoops Agents)

Power forward Jose Carlos (200-PF-1997) had a great game in the last round for Basquete Blumenau/APAB, receiving a Hoops Agents CBB Player of the Week award for round 4.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds, while his team outclassed Osasco (3-2) with 33-point margin 99-66. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Blumenau maintains the 3rd position in Brazilian CBB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Blumenau will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. In the team's last game Carlos had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Blumenau, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Jose Carlos has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 23.0ppg. Carlos is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 7.8rpg) and averages impressive 76.7% FGP and 50.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young Gustavo Ruiz (190-SG-1995) of Santos Fupes. Ruiz had a very good evening with 40 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as Santos lost that game 79-89 to slightly higher-ranked Joacaba (#5, 2-3). Santos are still at the very bottom. 5 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Ruiz is well-known at Santos and is a proven leader in his second season with the team. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.2ppg (#7). He also recorded 7.4 assists per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was Maicon Waldemar (204-C/F-2000) of Joacaba Basquete (#5). Waldemar scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Joacaba, leading his team to a 89-79 win against Santos (#6, 0-5). The chances of Joacaba ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Waldemar could help Joacaba to bring them higher in the standings. Waldemar has a great season in Brazil. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.4rpg (2nd best).
