NBB Round 42 (Regular Season): Bottom-ranked Botafogo wins against Bauru

Bottom-ranked Botafogo managed to get a tenth victory, breaking the two-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Botafogo edged fifth-ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru 85-84. Botafogo looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for point guard Matheusinho Brito (183-2000) who saved his team from a defeat with 21 points and 5 assists. Derick Machado (198-1996) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Center Andrezao Barbosa de Abreu (213-2002) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds for Bauru. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Botafogo (10-24) moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Cearense. Bauru at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Pinheiros and Brasilia.

Victao Camilo notched 20 points to lead the effort. Even a double-double of 11 points and 15 assists by Vithinho Lersch did not help to save the game for U.Corinthians. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Corinthians have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Sao Jose. Loser U.Corinthians keeps the seventh position with 16 games lost. They share it with Vasco da Gama.

In the last two games of round 42 Caxias do Sul was beaten by Pinheiros on the road 81-65. Sao Paulo won against Brasilia on its own court 88-79.
The most impressive performance of 42th round was 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by Malcolm Miller of Sao Paulo.



Sao Jose - Pato 77-89

Five Sao Paulo players scored in double figures. Even 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by guard Daniel Von Haydin (195-1999) did not help to save the game for Brasilia. Point guard Guilherme Santos (189-1997) added 15 points and 4 assists. Brasilia's coach Dede Barbosa rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.
