The most exciting game of round 9 in the Liga Ouro took place in Sao Paulo. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 5th ranked Pinheiros (3-6) to third ranked Minas (5-5) 76-75 on Monday evening. Minas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Pinheiros 2 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was guard Lucas Nakazawa (180-2005) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Naturalized Nigerian forward Richard Udoagwa (206-2005, college: Marshalltown) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Afonso Pacheco (205-2004) who recorded 22 points and 9 rebounds. Pinheiros' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Minas maintains third place with 5-5 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Cruzeiro. Pinheiros 2 at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Minas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pinheiros 2 will play at home against the league's leader Cruzeiro (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.

Sorocabana 2 will play against the league's second-placed Osasco 2 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Vitoria's coach Edu Oliveira tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Minas maintains third place with 5-5 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Cruzeiro. Vitoria lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Minas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vitoria will play against the league's leader Cruzeiro (#1) and hope to win that game.




Sorocabana 2 - Pinheiros 2 86-89
