The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Cruzeiro (8-2) in Sao Paulo on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Pinheiros (4-6) 89-83. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Cruzeiro. Pinheiros 2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Cruzeiro helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Vitor Meili (190-2006) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Afonso Pacheco (205-2004) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American Dominique Coleman (200-1988, college: FMU) replied with 25 points and 6 rebounds for Cruzeiro. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Akin Cortez (182-2005) responded with 16 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Osasco have a solid four-game winning streak. Osasco 2 used an opportunity after Cruzeiro lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Sorocabana 2 at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost.
