Carneiro's 24 points give him CBB Player of the Week award

Wilson Carneiro

30-year old point guard Wilson Carneiro (175-PG-1994) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Brusque Basquete/ADB and receives a Hoops Agents CBB Player of the Week award for round 6.
He had the game-high 24 points adding two assists for Brusque in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Blumenau (#4, 3-3) 87-84. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Brusque to consolidate first place in the Brazilian CBB. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Brusque has a very solid 5-2 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Carneiro had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Brusque's top player in his first season with the team. Carneiro has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 17.0ppg) and averages solid 48.7% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Maicon Waldemar (204-C/F-2000) of Joacaba Basquete. He is a in his first season at Joacaba. In the last game Waldemar recorded an impressive double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds. Of course Joacaba cruised to a 84-77 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked Brusque (#1, 5-2). Joacaba's 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-6 record. Waldemar is one of the most experienced players at Joacaba and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to another Joacaba's star - guard Elias Oliveira (189-G-2001). Oliveira showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. He was another key player of Joacaba Basquete, helping his team with a 84-77 win against the higher-ranked Brusque (#1, 5-2). The chances of Joacaba not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 6 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Oliveira could try to bring Joacaba's a little bit higher in the standings. Oliveira has individually a great season in Brazil. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.0apg (3rd best).
