Bauru Basket defeated São Paulo at the Panela de Pressão in game 2 of the NBB quarterfinals. The game finished 84-67, extending Bauru’s lead in the series to 2-0. This means the team only needs one more win to advance to the semifinals.

The hype around the NBB tournament is huge. Fans are not only showing up and tuning into the games, but they’re also trying to predict scores. With the rise of online sports betting in Brazil, more and more fans are placing wagers on the tournament. At the same time, they’re using top eSports betting sites to place wagers on their favorite gaming teams.

This growing enthusiasm was displayed in the game between Bauru Basket and São Paulo, with the arena being entirely sold out.

The home team was once again impressive right from the start. Coach Paulo Jaú’s team started hot from the three-point line. Throughout the game, they converted 10 of their 25 three-point shots and dominated the glass, grabbing 35 rebounds, 7 more than São Paulo.

The team shot 50% from the field, compared to the guests’ 42.3%. The team struggled to convert from the free-throw line, shooting 66.7%. São Paulo was more successful, converting 82.6% of their free throws.

Bauru was also impressive on the defensive end, allowing the guests to convert only 4 out of their 21 three-point attempts. Coach Jaú said that the team managed to neutralize São Paulo’s biggest strengths, which eventually helped them win the game.

The top scorer for Bauru was Pedro Infante, who finished the game with 18 points, while shooting 3-7 for three.

Commenting on the game, Pedro said that he’s happy with his performance, but that the most important thing was the victory. The fan interest in the tournament also didn’t go unnoticed by the team’s no. 9. Pedro went on to call Bauru’s fans one of the best in the NBB.

Also noteworthy are performances of Alex Garcia, who scored 14 and recorded 9 assists, and Andrezao, who recorded another double-double. The center finished the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

For the guest, center Ansaloni had 17 points and 4 rebounds, while Cordero Bennett scored 12 and recorded 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Bauru also reported that the fans have been amazing throughout the series. The team invited fans to get their tickets early, should the series return to Panela de Pressão, as they expect the arena to be sold out again.

The winner of the series will face the better team between Minas and Vasco. Minas is currently leading the series with the same score, 2-0.

On the other side of the bracket, the results have been less one-sided, with both Flamengo/Corinthians and Sesi Franca/Pinheiros series currently tied at 1-1.

Before facing São Paulo, Bauru eliminated Paulistano, winning the series 3-2. In the same round, São Paulo defeated Brasília Basquete 3-1.

Bauru recently started restructuring its management with businessman Mauro Mitiue elected as the new president. The CEO of the Facimus Group has extensive experience in management and a strong connection to the club.

Mitiue will work with vice-president Roberto Fornazari, who led the team during in 2016/17, the season in which Bauru won the NBB title.

The new management will officially take over on June 1st and will remain in their positions until May 2027.

The outgoing president, Plínio Cabrini Júnior, said that he’s proud of the project and what the team achieved in recent years. He added that his goal was always to keep the project alive and competitive.
