Samuel Santos claims Brazilian CBB weekly honour

Samuel Santos (187-SG-1999) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Brusque Basquete/ADB and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents CBB Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 25-year old shooting guard had the game-high 21 points adding four assists for Brusque in his team's victory, helping them to beat Santos (#6, 2-8) 68-58. Brusque maintains the 2nd position in Brazilian CBB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Brusque will need more victories to improve their 7-3 record. In the team's last game Santos had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Brusque and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Santos has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 17.4ppg), assists (6th best: 3.7apg) and averages solid 2.1spg and 51.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Gabriel Soldi (202-SF-2000) of Santos Fupes. Soldi impressed basketball fans with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course Santos cruised to a 80-68 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Blumenau (#4, 4-5). Despite this victory they still are the league outsider. 8 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Santos managed to get this year. Soldi is a newcomer at Santos and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Joao Demetrio (208-F/C-1995) of Basquete Blumenau/APAB (#4). Demetrio scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Despite Demetrio's great performance the Blumenau lost 79-81 to #1 ranked Tatui. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Blumenau ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 5 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Demetrio could help Blumenau to bring them higher in the standings. Demetrio has a very solid season. In 4 games in Brazil he scored 9.5ppg.
