Coop/Sao Jose Basketball (NBB) signed 32-year old Brazilian ex-international center Maique Tavares (211cm-110kg-1993) for upcoming 2025-26 season. Tavares played last season at Obras in Argentinian La Liga. He managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. But in 6 La Liga games he had just 1.8ppg and 2.5rpg. Tavares also played for Bigua in Uruguayan league that season where in four BCL Americas games he recorded 7.8ppg and 4.3rpg. He also played 6 games in Uruguayan LUB where he averaged 6.8ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.0apg.
Tavares represented Brazil at the Panamerican Games in Santiago (Chile) two years ago.
He has played previously professionally in Mexico (Diablos) and Brazil (Vivo/Franca, Flamengo, Minas, Botafogo and Paulistano).
Tavares was voted to Brazilian All-Star Game back in 2021.
