Lessa's 19 points give him Hoops Agents Paulista Player of the Week award

30-year old point guard Guilherme Lessa (179-PG-1995) had an amazing evening in the last round for Coop/Sao Jose Basketball and receives a Hoops Agents Paulista Player of the Week award for round 1.
He had the game-high 19 points adding two rebounds and three assists for Sao Jose in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Mandic Basket (#11, 0-3) with 39-point margin 100-61. Sao Jose was forced-out from the top positions in Brazilian Paulista. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Sao Jose will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. Lessa turned to be Sao Jose's top player in his first season with the team.

Second best performed player last round was Anderson Barbosa (192-G/F-2000) of Mogi das Cruzes Basquete. He is a swingman in his first season at Mogi. In the last game Barbosa recorded an impressive 11 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course Mogi cruised to a 77-67 relatively comfortable win over Sorocabana (1-2). The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Barbosa is a newcomer at Mogi and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 12.0ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 7.5rpg and 4.5apg.

Third place about best performers goes to Leonardo Jacon (199-SF-1996) of Sao Leopoldo Mandic Basket (#11). Jacon scored 23 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Despite Jacon's great performance the Mandic Basket lost 61-100 to Sao Jose (#4, 2-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Mandic Basket can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 3 games. Jacon has a very solid season. In 3 games in Brazil he scored 13.0ppg.
