Flamengo tabs Eric Buckner, ex Bordo

Eric Buckner

Clube de Regatas do Flamengo (NBB) signed 35-year-old American 208cm center Eric Buckner (college: Georgia State) for the upcoming season. He was the best rebounder at Bordo in the Turkish TBL league last season, averaging 13.4ppg, 7.2rpg, 2.1apg, and 1.3bpg in 34 games. In the previous (2023-24) season, he played for another Turkish team, OGM Ormanspor Genclik Ankara (also in TBL).
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2015.
Buckner, a very experienced player, has traveled extensively during his pro career, playing in nine different countries on three continents (Europe, Asia, and North America). He has played professionally in China (Henan), France (ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne Basket, Monaco, and Chalon/Saor), Greece (Aris Midea), Kazakhstan (Astana), Lithuania (Wolves), Russia (Zenit), Turkey (Turk Telekom, Usak, Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyesi, Buyukcekmece, and Afyon), South Korea (Mobis Phoebus), and The Basketball Tournament (Team KBC).
He has won numerous awards throughout his career, including playing in the final of the European North Basketball League in 2023. He was also voted to the French ProA All-Star Game in 2020.
He graduated from Georgia State in 2012 and it'll be his 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball. Buckner played also for Gulf Coast State College for one year.
