Botafogo Rio de Janeiro (NBB) signed 38-year-old American point guard Kenny Dawkins for the upcoming season. Dawkins, who stands at 177cm tall and played college basketball at Lamar, last played for Pioneros in the Mexican LBE league. In his 7 recent games, he averaged 3.7ppg, 2.0rpg, and 3.1apg. Dawkins' contribution helped Pioneros reach the semifinals.
In 2009, he was drafted by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (D-League) in the fifth round (76th overall).
Dawkins graduated from Lamar University, and it will be his 17th season in pro basketball.
He has played professionally in Mexico (Venados) and Brazil (Pinheiros, Paulistano, Sorocabana, Caxias do Sul, and Rio Claro) as well as in Mexico.
Dawkins' college team made it to the Interligas Cup final in 2024. Dawkins is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of his last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Botafogo. He played for Arizona Western College for 2 years.
